Balance Rock is one of the most iconic landmarks of Arches National Park and photographed a million times. For me it was important to create a unique photograph by choosing the right time of the year as well as a different format. The Balance Rock formation is ideal for a panoramic format, to add unique light I have chosen to photograph it in late winter after a heavy thunderstorm.

This picture was originally shot with a Fuji 617 in the format 6x17cm on Fuji Velvia Film, the original film was then scanned with a Hasselblad X5 scanner.

Arches National Park is a very famous National Park, located in the Southwest of the USA in Utah. The town of Moab is only a few miles away of Arches National Park and "a perfect" vacation destination to discover the scenic National Parks in the area.
