An aerial view of the village of Vernazza in the Cinque Terre in Liguria, Italy, gives one a clear perspective of this unique location that is built along the coastline. Castillo Doria sits atop a cliff overlooking the radiant hues of the buildings which enlighten the entire region that is beaming with history.
The buildings are tightly packed into a fairly small area, some of them which are perched on the cliffsides and have a great aerial view of the harbour. Here there is plenty of room for fishing boats as well as larger water vessels which journey to Vernazza by sea. Hotels, cafes, restaurants, quaint shops, a historic castle and a parish church are all part of life in the village of Vernazza.
Castillo Doria has been a protector for the village since the 16th century against the pirates who would attack the Cinque Terre coastline. Since then, the Cinque Terre has become a very unique travel destination when visiting Liguria, Italy and tourists can easily travel by boat or ferry between each village. Another way to see the natural beauty of the Cinque Terre, is to walk along the trails between the villages which is about a seven mile journey requiring many scenic stops in between.
Vernazza is the village of the Cinque Terre where you will find homes which are more elegant and there is a richer style of living compared to the other four villages. The pace around the village of Vernazza is very laid back which makes this the ideal vacation spot while in Liguria, Italy.
