Set to co-host the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in February and March respectively, Whistler will be the site of various events including alpine skiing, bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton. The nearby Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley will be the site of the cross-country skiing, biathlon, and ski jumping.
This already popular winter destination attracts more than two million visitors annually and was a natural choice as a venue to co-host the Olympics with the city of Vancouver.
During the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the province of British Columbia and in particular the city of Vancouver and the town of Whistler will gain exposure to a large gathering of international visitors.
