The Ponte Vecchio bridge was first recorded in historic records back in 996, however the original ancient structure which was built during Roman times was destroyed during flooding in 1117 and reconstructed in it's current style of architecture in 1345.
The ancient bridge is among the most popular tourist sights in the city of Florence from morning til dusk! As in the early days, the bridge is lined by shops which house many jewelers as well as art galleries, and souvenir shops.
