The ancient city of Jaca situated in the Aragon valley in the province of Huesca, in Aragon, Spain is now a winter destination for skiers, snowboarders and snow-shoe enthusiasts eager to test the Pyrenees mountains.In the 11th century Jaca was the capital of Aragon and Jacetania, and in early medieval times Jaca began as the site of a ford, a shallow crossing, on the Aragon River in Spain, where traders followed a route from Pau to Zaragoza. Jaca in Aragon was also a haven for pilgrims wending their way over the Pyrenees Mountains along the 'Pilgrim's Road' Camino de Santiago.Today, Jaca has a population around 12,500.
