The ancient Soave castle, in the Veneto region of Italy, dates back to the 10th century - first mentioned in the chronicles of the Magyar invasions around 934. Later in the 13th century the Soave castle was owned by Count Greppi who subsequently gave it to the Verona commune.The walls around the ancient Soave castle in Veneto, that still stand today are the work of the Scaliger family who had them built in 1379. After the Scaliger years, the castle was owned by the Visconti of Milan. From 1405 to 1439 the Soave castle was lost by Carraresi from Padua to the Venice Republic, won back by the Visconti army and then ownership was regained by Venice.At the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries the town of Soave was under the rule of France, then it became part of the Lombardy-Venetia kingdom and finally in 1866 Soave was part of Italy.The ancient Soave castle in Soave, Italy is about 23 kilometers east of the city of Verona and is a charming place to visit. ... continue below the picture...
