The months of March or April are the prime months for beautiful flowers to start to bloom each year on the apricot tree in South Tyrol, Italy. The average apricot tree grows to about 4 to 6 meters tall and has flowers of white or pink which blossom before the leaves or apricots appear on the tree.
Romans introduced Europe to the apricots in early years and to date Italy has become one of the main producers of the apricot. Touring throughout Italy you will see many orchards full of apricot trees and they are extremely beautiful when this tree is full of flowers.
The flowers of the tree of the apricot, cherry, peach and plum are all very similar but the leaves are fairly different. The leaves of the apricot tree are shaped somewhat like a heart with pointed tips.
Apricot blossoms at Unterinnerhof, Italy, South Tirol, Europe.
