The entrance at the Auckland Zoo on the North Island of New Zealand is where the adventure begins.

Walk through the gates of the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand and adventure into eight different regions where you will find a variety of animals from around the world. A map is available so you know which way to begin your adventure around the zoo.

The Auckland Zoo first opened its gates in 1922 and is home to over 1000 animals and 178 species. Be prepared to spend the entire day at the zoo as there is so much to see and do at various times throughout the day. Pack a lunch and rest at our picnic area amid these incredible animals or enjoy a meal at the concession.

The Auckland Zoo features special events where you can meet some of the animals up close.
