The Auckland Zoo first opened its gates in 1922 and is home to over 1000 animals and 178 species. Be prepared to spend the entire day at the zoo as there is so much to see and do at various times throughout the day. Pack a lunch and rest at our picnic area amid these incredible animals or enjoy a meal at the concession.
The Auckland Zoo features special events where you can meet some of the animals up close.
