The mother of a baby harp seal otherwise known as a white coat, pokes her head up through a hole in the pack ice off the coast of Labrador and Newfoundland in Canada. This is a 3 day old seal pup which at birth weighed about 11 kg, and within two weeks will weigh approximately 35 kg. The baby harp seal will spend only about 5% of its time with its mother to feed on her rich milk.
