The church of San Mateo, a focal point in the Plaza de la Constitucion in the town of Banos de la Encina, is a mix of architectural designs.
While the main building is of Gothic design, the octagonal tower was inspired by Spanish Architect Andrés de Vandelvira who was active during the Renaissance era. The main portal which was carved in 1576 is of mannerist style
