These two beautiful Camargue Horses that stand together in a field in the Plaine de la Camargue in Parc Naturel Regional de Camargue in Provence, France, are part of a long tradition of horses in that area. These horses were in this region for thousands of years and they are known for being able to survive tough conditions and for having lots of stamina.
The Camargue 'cowboys' rode these horses when they would herd the black Camargue bulls that were used in bullfighting matches in the south of France. They were strong enough and powerful enough to tell these bulls what to do and to get them to go where they wanted, even though the horses themselves can be quite small.
The Camargue Horses are always gray in colour, no matter what. Depending on how old they are they can look more black in colour or more white, but ultimately as adults, they will always end up gray. ... continue below the picture...
These horses are well respected because they are strong, intelligent, calm, they have lots of stamina and they have a long history of being this way, which makes them even more reliable. They are often used in equestrian games or for the sport of dressage.
