The 23 metre tall Castlepoint Lighthouse was first commissioned on January 12, 1913 after being prefabricated in England. The lighthouse which sits 52 metres above sea level, sends out a white light which flashes every 10 seconds - protecting the beautiful Wairarapa coastline for 26 nautical miles.
A sunset stroll along the boardwalk to the Castlepoint Lighthouse is a rewarding way to end a day, as the beautiful Pacific Ocean coastline of the Wairarapa is silhouetted against the pastel painted horizon.
