I found this beautiful nature scene on a cold winter day in Olympic National Park near Quinault Lake. The red leaves caught my immediate attention as they were in such a big color contrast to the rest of the scene. As a big fan of water I decided for a long exposure to give the water a flowing effect.
When I composed the photo I decided to show the fall leaves on the right side of the frame to counter balance the main water stream, it almost looks like they are framing the main flow. I decided for a fairly tight crop to use the lower red leave as a strong foreground and figured that the eye will follow up deeper into the picture to the second leave which also has the green moss as a main eye catcher. One of my favorite color combinations, red and green.
If you look at the larger version of this picture you will see that the rocks with the leaves on are actually frozen, the upper red leave has some frost on it too which makes this picture very unique. ... continue below the picture...
Check out the large free wallpaper / computer background, the colors really pop and makes this picture a all over beautiful pristine nature scene for your computer.
