Dominating the region and Mediterranean coastline, the Massif de l'Esterel (Esterel Massif) is made up of red porphyr which has been exposed over time due to erosion by wind and water, and adds a beautiful contrast to the coast.
The corniche hemmed coast is further shaped by the Mediterranean Sea which laps at the red volcanic rock. It is possible to climb the Massif de l'Esterel via a hiking trail which affords stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, coastline, and the rugged landscape of red rocks.
The coast in this region of the Provence is spectacular! Low lying green bushes carpet the landscape in between the rocky coastline and the rocky mountains which tower above it.
There are several peaks in the beautiful Massif de l'Esterel with the highest being Mount Vinaigre at 618 metres/2027 feet. ... continue below the picture...

I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II, aperture of f/7.1, exposure time of 1/160 sec. on ISO 100, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 24mm.
