... Many people come to this town every year to experience what life was like in a Renaissance town that has been left untouched for the most part since it was remodeled then.
The Bell and Clock Tower is part of the Palazzo Comunale, the Town Palace, and was the last building to be started in the remodeling of the Palazza Pubblico in the last half of the year 1462. This town currently houses the town hall and municipal government for the city. The Bell Tower seen here in the photograph was added at a lower height than the nearby Cathedral Bell Tower, as the rulers of the city wanted to make it clear that Church power takes precedence over civic power.
