Commemorating 100 years of Canada being a confederation, the centennial flame is situated at the entrance to Parliament Hill in front of the Canadian Government buildings in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The Canadian Government building pictured here features the peace tower, and the centre block which houses the Senate and the House of Commons, as well as MP and Senate offices. The flame was first lit on January 1, 1967 and was meant only as a temporary monument positioned on Parliament Hill, however popular public support led to the monument being left in front of the Government building.
