The town of Castlepoint along the Wairarapa coastline is one of the most fascinating places to visit especially at sunset as the scenery explodes with color. From this point along the coastline, you have an outstanding view of the pastel colors adorning the sky at sunset as the black outline of Castle Rock towers over the stunning blue colored waters in the lagoon.
Once another beautiful sunset has come to a close, the evening brings in the tranquility that surrounds Castlepoint and the scenery around Castle Rock will not come to life again until the morning light. Sunrise can also be a stunning time of day to sit along the shores of Castlepoint, New Zealand and watch the scenery of the lagoon, Castle Rock, the mountains and the open waters come into view.

... In the lagoon, there is a whole other world of natural history and it is the perfect place to spend the day enjoying the water activities.
There are hiking trails through the pine forest over the lagoon that take you to the top of Castle Rock and from here the scenery is breathtaking. The area around the reef is where many fishermen spend their day but never venture into the open waters around the reef as it is very dangerous and one never knows what the sea may whip up.
Always keep your eyes open when along the water's edge of Castlepoint as dolphins, fur seals and seabirds love to spend time around these rock formations. Whether you are watching a sunset, sunrise, wildlife or simply enjoying a sunny day in Castlepoint, New Zealand you will never be disappointed as it is one of the prettiest and charming places around the North Island.
