These children have spent some time fishing on Lake Audy in Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba and they are showing off their catches proudly as the sun sets on the horizon behind them. The water of Lake Audy is as still as a mirror and the clouds along with the wharf are reflected clearly on the surface. Even the soft pink of the sunset has bathed the top of the lake in a pink glow before it turns to an inky darkness as full night falls.
Fishing is a popular pastime in Riding Mountain National Park as Lake Audy provides excellent conditions and many species of fish to try to catch. There have been a few record breaking catches from Lake Audy as well and it is a well known spot for fishing throughout Manitoba. Riding Mountain National Park is unique as it stands out as a forested area in the middle of prairie grassland. It is now considered a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO so the hundreds of species that call Riding Mountain National Park home are protected. Visitors can enjoy other activities besides fishing, most notably camping and hiking.
