The christmas tree glitters with hundreds of lights while the christmas markets bustle with people who've ventured into the heart of Munich to visit the annual event. To appreciate just how large the markets are, it's a good idea to climb the stairs of a nearby building to get an aerial view of the scene.
The most romantic time is at night but it is also the coldest time to visit the Christmas markets, but one can clutch a mug of gluehwein to warm up. The train system is a great way to get into the centre of Munich and to walk through the markets from there. There are church towers nearby which some afford a stupendous aerial view of the Marienplatz.
