Volterra is a town that stands high on hilltop, about 1770 feet above sea level, and is a walled town in the Tuscany region of Italy. The foundations for the city today were first laid in the Neolithic era, or the 'New' Stone Age. The city then became a Roman Municipality, and in the Etruscan Era, Volterra was one of the most important cities in the Etruscan Confederation; the group of cities that were a part of this ear of history.
It was during this period that the town was constantly at war with Rome, often being captured by one group of people, only to be attacked again, and taken by another group. The city today is rich in Etruscan history, and has long since been a must-see destination for collectors of this period of history. ... continue below the picture...

City Of Volterra Rooftops Pisa Province Tuscany Italy
It is thought that Volterra was the birthplace of St. Linus, who was the first successor to St. Peter. Now the town is quiet and peaceful, but still holds many of the wonders and treasures from its rich and colourful history. It is a stop many visitors want to make, despite the fact it is a little out of the way from the rest of the surrounding towns, but due to its past, its architecture, varied rooftops seen from atop a tower, and its narrow winding streets, it really is an exciting place to see in the beautiful region of Tuscany.

I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, aperture of f/6.3, exposure time of 1/160 sec. on ISO 100, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 70mm.
