The commercial apricot harvest in an orchard near Roxburgh in the Central Otago area of the South Island of New Zealand takes place every year and this commercial picker is preparing to unload some fresh picked apricots. This area of Central Otago is known for its fruit production and the fruit that is grown here is ripe and delicious and can be shipped to locations all over the world.
An apricot that is fresh picked off the tree has an unbeatable taste so when the fruit is picked, the pickers make sure to not leave them lying around for too long or in containers for too long as they lose their firmness and their flavor, both of which are important to apricots.

... New Zealand is unbeatable and the commercial harvest time is a very busy time for the fruit companies of New Zealand, especially in this region of the country. Come early summer, the trees are often ripe for the picking and that is when commercial pickers such as this man here will be called in to work. Fruit picking can be a very tiring business and pickers work long hours in order to pick and ship all the fruit on time.
