The largest wild cat in British Columbia, cougars inhabit the mainland as well as many coastal islands including Vancouver Island. Cougars are heavily hunted animals even though they generally avoid contact with humans (gaining themselves the nick name of Ghost Cats). I much prefer shooting these graceful and powerful animals with a camera rather than a rifle.
