Across the coastal waters, houses and buildings in the town of L'Anse aux Meadows on the Great Northern Peninsula in Newfoundland, Canada adorn the waterfront as the sunset lighting reflects through the dark clouds. Small separations part the clouds giving way to some of the remaining light blue coloring of the sky.Throughout North America, the town of L'Anse aux Meadows is the only known Norse site outside of Greenland where European exploration and settlers were before Christopher Columbus. It was not until 1960, that a Norwegian explorer and his wife, an archaeologist, found remnants of a Norse village and in 1978, the town of L'Anse aux Meadows was named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.Town of L'Anse aux Meadows at sunset, Northern Peninsula, Great Northern Peninsula, Viking Trail, Trails to the Vikings, Newfoundland, Newfoundland Labrador, Canada.
