Looking from Passo Montecroce (Kreuzbergpass) in South Tyrol, Italy the Dolomites Mountain Range stands at about 1608 meters and is a picturesque scenic view. The Dolomites Mountain Range is a section of the Alps and is divided equally into the Western and Eastern Dolomites and includes more than forty glaciers.The Dolomites are named after a French geologist "Dolomieu" who in the 17th century was the first scientist to examine the geological past of this mountain range. Many historic legends and stories are related to the Dolomites Mountain Range which go as far back as the 2nd century and continue up to the present day.The Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy are a very popular tourist location and the range of mountains are famous for skiing and mountain climbing.
