Off Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, a male Killer Whale surfaces in the direction of our whale watching boat as the day starts to near an end. The sun glistens off the mist from his blow as his dorsal fin and top of his rounded head surface.The Killer Whale or Orca is the largest member of the dolphin family with very distinctive coloring which easily tells them apart from most other species. The tall dorsal fin of this Killer Whale is a sure sign that this is a male and whether he continues in the same direction to give everybody a closer look will be up to him.In their natural environment off Northern Vancouver Island, one can never be sure what the Orca will do next as they are free to roam in this vast ocean. Captains, fisherman and researchers can try and predict what the whales next move will be as they have been watching their different patterns for years, but what the whale may decide, could be something totally different. ... continue below the picture...
