A relaxed cat sleeps soundly on the window sill of the Memorial Church at the Grand Pre National Historic Site in Nova Scotia, Canada. This particular domestic cat has a tabby coat of fur with white stockings on its legs.
Although this cute domestic cat looks harmless enough (and it was), the cat in general is a skilled predator and is able to hunt over 1000 species as a source of food. Cats have been a popular companion for humans for at least 9,500 years and they are valued for their ability to prey on pests such as vermin.
The fur of a cat whether domestic or feral comes in a variety of colours. Contrary to popular belief a tabby cat is not a species of cat rather the tabby identifies the colour and pattern of a cat's fur.

I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II, aperture of f/3.5, exposure time of 1/80 sec. on ISO 200, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 65mm.
