Photo: Dramatic Tufa Lake Sun Scenery

The bright sun peers around a Tufa Tower in Mono Lake and shines brightly on the dramatic mountain scenery behind.

Small patches of snow cling to the rough surface of a tufa tower while the sun shines down on the dramatic snow covered mountains and the lake.

This dramatic scenery is situated in the Mono Lake Tufa SNR, a State Natural Reserve which protects the ancient lake, tufas, and surrounding landscape.

The lake looks like a sheet of glass extending out from the tufa and green tinged shores then reflecting the mountain scenery on its surface.

Mono Lake, Mono Lake Tufa SNR, California, USA.
