This cute Fallow Deer stops as he crosses the lush green landscape of Les Prairies at Parc Omega in Montebello, Quebec allowing us to take its picture. The deer is within steps of our vehicle and is just checking out its surroundings before approaching any closer.
The Fallow Deer is very easily tamed and is known to come right up to the window of cars giving visitors to Parc Omega an excellent opportunity to have a close look at this animal. The Fallow Deer is a ruminant mammal and it loves to graze in open grassland areas or in a mixed woodland region.
A female Fallow Deer can weigh between 30 and 50 kilograms when full grown while a male can reach up to 85 kilograms. This Fallow Deer shows off its light brown coat with white spots during the summer months in Parc Omega, but when winter arrives, the fur becomes a much darker brown and the spots seem to disappear.
