After a long day of fishing off Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, this fishing boat returns home but not before the crew enjoys some whale watching. Across the surface of the water, a couple of dorsal fins are spotted and the fishing boat slows down to watch their beauty in the sunset lighting.
The pink tinge blanketing the sky at sunset also reflects off the water as two female Orca leisurely swim towards the fishing boat. One Orca comes up for air as the mist follows along while the other female dives back into the water continuing under the ripples decorating the surface of the ocean.
The background is beautiful as the tiered landscape glistens at sunset while the fishing boat heads directly into the low laying sunlight.
Whale watching is an outdoor activity which can be done in various ways and is best off Northern Vancouver Island during the summer and fall. This is when the Killer Whales seem to linger around the area as the food supply seems to be plentiful. ... continue below the picture...
People enjoy whale watching aboard many type of water vessels such as fishing boats, whale watching boats, kayaks, pleasure crafts, dinghies, cruise ships and even from tugboats. Another way to enjoy whale watching is from the coastal shores as the Killer Whales pass by or many love viewing these sea animals from above in a seaplane.
Whichever way one chooses to see the whales while visiting Northern Vancouver Island, you will never be disappointed in watching these beautiful creatures in their natural environment.
