As the sunset highlights the sky over the City of Florence in the Region of Tuscany in Italy, the golden light reflects off the surface of the Arno River under the middle span of the Ponte alla Carraia. The sun sits in the middle of the clouds that linger across the sky, but the brightness of the sun seems to break through and show off its bright yellow coloring.
The bridge is the oldest that crosses the Arno River after the Ponte Vecchio but it has been replaced several times since its original construction. At one time there was too many spectators on the bridge watching an event on the Arno River causing the bridge to collapse and flooding has also washed away the bridge. Rebuilt in 1559 with five arches, it was once more destroyed by German troops during the Second World War but rebuilding it to its original form was possible.
