The West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand is known as a scenic and diverse region of New Zealand. From golden sand beaches such as at Kohaihai Beach near Karamea to glaciers and rivers surrounded by native bush.
The remote Kohaihai Beach features a stretch of golden sand where the only evidence of another person having been here is from footprints left behind in the sand.
