The deep blue hue of the water in the town of Churchill, Manitoba in Canada has become partially frozen as the onset of winter has begun and Arctic temperatures drop well below freezing. On beautiful, sunny winter days, the temperatures rarely warm up enough so that the ice melts, it remains very cold and the pool of water will continue to get a thicker coat of ice atop the water.Churchill, Manitoba has a weather system which is very unpredictable as the wind chill factor can be unbearable. As you enter into October, the temperatures drop to below zero and continuously get colder, often reaching -40 and even colder when gale winds pick up. The Hudson Bay shoreline is one of the coldest areas in Churchill and it is not until the latter part of June and early July that the days warm up considerably, but even then, a snowfall can sweep into the area on any given day.Pool of semi frozen water in the town of Churchill, Hudson Bay, Manitoba, Canada.
