As you drive along Highway 83 in the town of Kurow in the Waitaki Valley on the South Island of New Zealand you will be surprised what some of the scenery will bring. These funny people made from hay bales brings a smile to everyone's face that passes by.This rural community has a total population of about five hundred and people are relaxed, laid back and like to make tourists smile.The mother and father hay bales stand with their children along with their cute little dog with each one grinning from ear to ear, in a manner of speaking. Dressed in bright colored clothing you can not miss this happy family.State Highway 83 takes you right past this unique attraction and thousands of cars stop and take pictures of the family of hay bales.Many tourists come to Kurow, New Zealand from November up until April for the great trout and salmon fishing as well as the many lakes that surround the green hillsides. ... continue below the picture...
