An annual event during the advent period, the Christmas markets are set up in the historic Roemerberg of Frankfurt, Germany each year. The scene is one mixed with historic architecture and the market stalls of the modern day.
Although some of the buildings surrounding the Roemerberg were damaged at the end of the second world war, they have been rebuilt in exactly the same style of architecture as before. This historic square has always been the scene of fairs and markets so the Christmas markets are an extension of history.
