In this horse portrait of Lady, it looks as if she is holding her pose perfectly still with the hay just falling out of her mouth just for this picture. Lady looks content and at peace and her ears are perked up forward so she is listening to what is going on around her, but is not feeling threatened in any way.
If horses are properly looked after and well cared for they can live a very long time, as in Lady's case. This animal looks healthy and happy and has lived a long life. Horses can live until about 40 with proper tender care but that is not as common. A horse's age can be determined by examining their teeth, although it can be hard to tell if they have not been well treated.
Horses have long been very useful to the human race; not only as a means of transport, but as workers, and even as a source of food. ... continue below the picture...
... In modern times, horses are not used as often for work, but are kept as pets and cared for in stables by humans who wish to ride them. Some horses still work however, doing police work or pulling carts or even performing some farming tasks if a farmer does not want to use modern technology. As in the case of Lady, hopefully the horses have some nice hay to come home to.
