A photo of people having fun and hot rides. I came across a crowd of young people enjoying some hot rides on boggie boards as they sped off down the dunes. The great sand dunes of Te Paki, reach to heights of 100 metres and some can be found 5 kilometres inland, as a result of the powerful westerly winds which blow in from the Tasman Sea. During the summer months, with the harsh sun beating down on the dunes, the sand becomes extremely hot. This makes for hot rides all round.
