The hot springs of Hot Springs Cove in Maquinna Marine Provincial Park is the site of a naturally formed waterfall and several rock pools. The source of the spring water is from deep within the earth. It bubbles up into a stream which then cascades over an escarpment where a natural shower can be enjoyed if you can stand the heat! From the waterfall the hot spring water flows into the first of the rock pools which then drains into two lower pools - the lower pools are rinsed by the incoming Pacific Ocean which creates a unique sensation of hot and cold.
Hot Springs Cove is situated in Maquinna Marine Provincial Park on the West Coast of Vancouver Island and is only reached via boat or float plane. From the boat/plane dock, a scenic 2 kilometre hike through the lush old-growth coastal rain forest of the park spills the visitor out to the coast which steams as the hot spring water mixes with the Pacific Ocean waves. ... continue below the picture...
