Bright, happy twinkling lights are the hallmark of any Christmas holiday decor. They are a popular, affordable way to brighten up homes inside and out, like the dazzling scene created on the porch of this residence in the Pukeuri settlement of Otago, on the east coast of South Island, New Zealand.
The warm Christmas-time weather of Otago, on New Zealand's South Island, affords residents the opportunity to create festive outdoor scenes to delight Christmas light enthusiasts and passers by of all ages.
The Christmas scene on this porch is reflective of the playful holiday spirit found throughout New Zealand. It is washed in the glow of all white miniature lights, which have been used in layers to create a sense of coziness and depth.
Multiple strings are hung together at the front of the porch and pulled back to frame ... continue below the picture...
... the entire Christmas scene by creating a curtain effect, as if you are looking in through a picture window into this Pukeuri family's stylish holiday traditions.
The tiny yet mighty white lights also dangle from the green garland which has been carefully draped over the windows and around the parameter of the porch, giving off the creative illusion of frosty icicles despite the balmy summer South Island night air.
The centerpiece of the scene is the traditional Christmas tree which has been perfectly placed between two white wicker chairs, each adorned with coordinating plush pillows and inviting blankets. Miniature lights have been intertwined with decorative, rose-toned floral garland and wrapped around the deep green pine tree like a shimmering diamond necklace.
