Situated on Tillamook Rock the Tillamook Head Lighthouse was first lit on January 21, 1881 and took over one year to construct because of the treacherous location. The lighthouse was built on the rocky island just off Tillamook Head, because it was the most suitable location for its height and position. Tillamook Head Lighthouse can be seen from the Ecola State Park, a Lewis and Clark National and Historical State Park along the Oregon coast in the USA.
