The water from Dawson Falls cascades over the rock cliffs into the Kapuni Stream in Egmont National Park in Taranaki, New Zealand. Hike along the Kapuni Loop Track to reach this serene and beautiful area where the sound of the falls echoes throughout the wilderness.The greenery thrives around Dawson Falls as the ground area is fairly moist as the water meanders its way around the rocky landscape creating the Kapuni Stream.Dawson Falls was discovered in 1885 by Thomas Dawson, an Egmont National Park explorer, and he decided to clear an area close to the falls for a camping area. A lodge was opened in 1896 but in 1889, Thomas Dawson was proclaimed dead after drowning in the Wanganui River.When visiting Egmont National Park in Taranaki, New Zealand today, there are hiking trails such as the Kapuni Loop Track which will take visitors to the area where Dawson Falls flows.Dawson Falls and Kapuni Stream seen along the Kapuni Loop Track, Egmont National Park, Taranaki, North Island, New Zealand.
