Looking across at the scenery from a viewpoint on the South Island of New Zealand, you can see as far as the Southern Alps and Mt. Cook which are camouflaged by the white billowy clouds that sit atop these mountain ranges. A small island sits at the end of the point as the blue glacier colored water of Lake Pukaki encircles this small mass of land.The green landscape in the foreground of this picture captures your eye right away but as you let your eyes wander, the scenery is breathtaking. After the lush greenery, you are immediately drawn to the shade of blue that makes up Lake Pukaki and then to the beautiful snow covered mountain peaks.Some people that come to the South Island of New Zealand are happy just to be able to admire the beautiful scenery while others get the itch and want to make an adventure out of it. Lake Pukaki lures in the boaters, swimmers, kakayers, canoeists and sun tanners on warm sunny days but most people will not attempt to dip their toes in this cold lake in the winter.Whatever the reason for traveling to the South Island of New Zealand, you are guaranteed that you will see some incredible scenery.
