L'Anse aux Meadows is a town at the northern end of the Great Northern Peninsula and the coastal scenery here is really beautiful. In this view you can see the Atlantic Ocean stretched out and disappearing merging with the sunset on the horizon. The coastline is punctuated by rugged islands on the leading out from a handmade rustic fence. The town of L'Anse aux Meadows is located on the Great Northern Peninsula and is part of the Trails to the Vikings (Viking Trail) a scenic drive in Newfoundland Labrador.
People visit this area of Canada to see the place where it is believed that the Vikings first landed when they came to these shores hundreds of years ago. The rugged coastline and the open spaces make it easy to imagine what this area may have looked like when the Vikings first came.
L'Anse aux Meadows is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also the only known site of a Norse Village outside of Greenland. ... continue below the picture...
... It is not hard to imagine that a Viking may have stood in this same exact spot where this picture was taken and looked out over the waves of the Atlantic Ocean at the same pink streaked sky.
