The beacon that filters across the water from the Castlepoint Lighthouse on the coast of the North Island of New Zealand can be seen by vessels for twenty-six nautical miles. A lighthouse keeper tended to the beacon up until 1988 and it was then decided that the beacon would become automated and a lighthouse keeper was no longer needed. In the backdrop, a beautiful sunset illuminates the cloudless sky bringing in hopes of a fairly calm night on the water.Sunset at Castlepoint Lighthouse which overlooks the lagoon and bay, Castlepoint, Wairarapa, North Island, New Zealand.
