From the shores of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada you can sit along the sandy beach and watch the sky light up from the pinkish hues of the lightning. Off in the distance, the lightning appears as a halo of light but closer to shore the jagged streaks of light are stunning as long as they do not touch down anywhere close.There are two types of lightning, one being sheet lightning and the other being fork lightning. Sheet lightning is the type that stays within the clouds and does not tend to cause any damage but gives people a good light show. Fork lightning is a long spear like shape that is between the clouds and the ground which can cause fires when it touches down.A storm can quickly move in over the lakes in Lake Superior Provincial Park as clouds will slowly begin to thicken across the horizon and quickly fill the Ontario sky bringing in a fascinating lightning storm. As long as the storm is across the lake, you will have time to pack up your things and prepare proper shelter for your tent before the monsoons hit.The Agawa Bay Campground is ideal for the campers who still like to tent as the sites are small and are not really meant for the bigger rigs.
