Wherever one stays on vacation it is always a bonus to have a view from the hotel window especially of water - such as this view of the Lima River.
The Albergo Ristorante Corona in Bagni di Lucca in Tuscany, Italy does not disappoint. This peaceful scene is far different from the exciting times of the 1800s when the first gambling Casino was opened, in fact in 1837 the game of Roulette was invented here. High society gambled, danced and soaked in the thermal springs, until 1853 when the Casino was closed.
The Lima River runs through this ancient town of Bagni de Lucca in Tuscany, Italy. The Romans and Etruscans enjoyed the mineral waters, and the area has always appealed to the powerful families with money, such as the Buonapartes, as well as artists and poets - Puccini, Byron and the tragic Percy Bysshe Shelley who stayed in Bagni de Lucca, for a while, when the Shelley family travelled around Italy, just four years before his death. ... continue below the picture...
