The Maori people have many traditions and games which are one of the customs and cultures that are weaved into their everyday life. At the Wairakei Terraces on the North Island of New Zealand you can watch or join in one of the games that the Maori people demonstrate to give you an idea of their way of life.
The Maori people's game deal with calculation, mental alertness and memorizing skills because different tribes have a variation to their dialects so it makes it easy for everyone to understand the rules. Some games were played in the water, other required hand skills and agility and there was a selection that were created for the Maori children.
Games played by the Maori people were treasured by the tribes as they were a great time passer on long nights and were also a major part in their social culture.
