The village of Melk in Austria, Europe is home to the famous Melk Benedictine Abbey which stands about 200 feet above the village where this photo was taken from. The village of Melk has been a well known place since the Roman times and is situated along the Danube River in Austria.In the 13th century the village of Melk became a market town but the main attraction is the Stift Melk which is situated high upon the hillside. Some of the other interesting places to see while in the village of Melk, Austria are the Nibelungen Memorial Tablet, parts of the old town wall in Kremser Strasse and the historic post office.The village of Melk, Austria has an annual month long festival which runs from early July to early August where locals and tourists enjoy many fun-filled days.
