One of the must see attractions while on vacation in Newfoundland and travelling along the Viking Trail route is the Norstead Viking Site. The area was settled by the vikings around 1000 years ago but for only around 20 years. The sod houses on the site are reproductions of the original houses that were constructed at the time of the viking settlement, which dated back to approximately the year 1080 AD.
