It is no surprise how Nugget Point in Otago on the South Island of New Zealand was named. By looking at this picture you can see the rocks which actually look like nuggets, extend out past the point in the colorful water of Otago, New Zealand.On top of the steep headland you will find Nugget Point Lighthouse which stands at a height of 250 feet above the rocks. Lush greenery grows on the steep cliffs of Nugget Point right down to the edge of the water before the extension of the boulders.Snorkelling around Nugget Point in Otago, New Zealand is fascinating as you can view shallow water reefs and seaweed/kelp as well as having the possibility of seeing penguins, seabirds, a variety of seals, fish, dolphins and whales. Talks have taken place to see if the coastline around this area should become a marine reserve.Nugget Point is approximately fifty miles from Dunedin, Otago and to see the lighthouse and rocks at Nugget Point on an evening such as this, is a treasure of its own. ... continue below the picture...
