This adorable statue of a Little Blue Penguin was created out of Oamaru Stone and stands proudly in the downtown area of Oamaru, NZ. Tourists that visit Oamaru find this statue very unique and soon come to realize the meaning it holds in the hearts of the local residents. A smile is easily seen on people's faces as they pass by the Little Blue Penguin statue.
The Little Blue Penguin stands with its little head held high as if posing for all the cameras as the people snap his picture. The statue is probably the most photographed attraction throughout the entire town of Oamaru, Otago on the South Island of New Zealand.
Little Blue penguins find the South Island of NZ the ideal place to call home and every day around dusk they can be seen waddling up the beach back to their nests. You will soon realize why the town of Oamaru, NZ thinks so highly of the Little Blue Penguin and displays the statue in the middle of downtown. Many of the shops sell penguin souvenirs and gifts, businesses use the penguin on their logos and clothing will even have a Little Blue Penguin adorning them.
